Krótko po tym pojawiło się kolejne zdjęcie z Google Earth przedstawiające tajemnicze schody i z braku jakiejkolwiek innej ewidencji można na ten temat tylko spekulować.
Może to być dosłownie wszystko: od legendarnej antarktycznej bazy nazistów po cyfrowy śmieć, który powstał przy nakładaniu na siebie zdjęć satelitarnych, kiedy tworzono tą mapę. Kilka lat temu na Google Mars znaleziono coś podobnego i okazało się to być takim właśnie cyfrowym zanieczyszczeniem.
